pulling engine 2000 blazer
 

I am pulling the engine on my 2000 blazer 2wd and in the manual it says nothing about the torque converter, there is no way to get to the bolts because it has a full bellhousing with no inspection cover,does anyone know what to do?

If I remember correctly, you have to pull the starter to get to these bolts.

Yes you ahve to pull the starter, then you have to remove the starter cover plate attached to the tranny bellhousing, 2-10mm bolts. Once that is out of the way you have to rotate the torque converter so you can get a socket ont eh bolt via the starter opening. You have to look throough one of the two opening in the bottom of the bell housing. I found the easiest way to spin the engine over was via a pry bar on the flexplate teeth. Use the side of the bellhousing as leverage. It takes a while to spin her around, however it is much faster then trying to use the crank bolt. Spin and lossen the first botl, spin and loosen the second bolt, spin and remove the third botl, spin and remove the first bolt, adn one more time to remove the 2nd bolt. Installation is reversal of removal. Time consuimg but doable.

In case you need to move your rad cooler lines, they are attached to teh tranny fittings via a quick disconnect clip. Look for a clip on teh side of the fitting, slide it off with a screwdriver and the line wil come out.

I almost forgot, use the prybar to hold the engine via the fleplate so you can loosen the torque converter bolts. Use loctite when you reinstall those bolts and put some tranny fluid on the intake seal. Actully for the $5 in a new gasket its worth the money to replace it while the engine is out. Get the double lipped version.

Do you think that I have to drop the trans crossmember to get to the top bellhousing bolts?

I got to mine with a flex head ratchet it wasn't too bad!

These can be quite a pain. Dropping the cross member and using a few feet worth of extensions helps.
