pulling tranny off a blown motor

good day to all :icon_bike: i have 1999 jimmy 4x4 automatic with a blown motor, wanted to pull the trans before motor but i cant turn the motor over to get to the torque converter bolts. i did however take out the oil pan bolts thinking i could remove the oil pan to try and free up whats siezed in there but seems like the pan dont want to break free, thanx for reading and may the snow fall soon:icon_snowball:

Hmm! thats a tricky one. Have you tried using a huge pipe etc and putting some "uhmp" in the crank bolt?

Bigger hammer. Seriously, you're not try to save the pan, are you?

Then loosen all the mains and rod bolts you can get to, and hope.

Did you try to crank the motor over by hand? Like taking a 1/2 breaker bar with the correct socket and turning the bolt located on the front of the engine?

Or did you do that and still can't get it to move

if your just junking the engine, pull the trans/engine out as one unit. then remove the pan as you said you did and get in there with a torch and start cutting stuff, crankshaft, piston rods whatever makes the engine spin. been there done that. what a pain

i tried turning it over by hand and its froze up,wonder if motor an trans will come out in one piece without pulling the front core support?i do need the oil pan,the knew long block does not come with a oil pan,but i could buy another one and just beat the hell out of it till it bust up

You can pull the transmission without disconnecting the torque converter from the flywheel. Then you can pull the engine with the torque converter still on the flywheel or you should be able to access the bolts without having to rotate the engine. If you can't reach them all just be careful with the torque converter when you pull the engine and you should be able to get to the bolts easily once you have the engine out.
