Replacing Thermastat gasket

Hey Every one. The thermastat gasket went on my 91 blazer 4.3l
i need to replace it before a long trip this weekend and need a bit of help doing so.
i just need to know what i have to do...scrape down surfaces and what not.

Yup, pretty much just clean up both surfaces real well, making sure that you do not gouge the surfaces. I usually check the flatness with a file to make sure that the new gasket has a flat surface to sit against and seal on, but it isn't always necessary.
