I put my truck in REV to back up and it "**** to bed"...its sounded like a snap, crackle,pop. and CRUNCH...so REV is gone and 1st sounds like REV at 60mph ....the rest work...lol I`m not sure if this a popular thing with S-10 model`s ..? I`m putting a new one in this week ...sounds like the REV isn`t ride`n to free in their anymore.. Do you guy`s ever hear of this problem? is it only popular in the 4wd models

You just broke the splines out of the reaction sun shell. I am betting you do not have 4th any longer as well.

 

I bet your right...i haven`t tried it.....but I`ll see when i tear down the old trans..I`ll keep it posted and let ya know...is this a popular problem with these trannys?

 

The sun shell is common, but I would not say it is an epidemic. Considering the sheer number of 700R4/4L60/4L60E transmissions in use, the failure rate is relatively low. But it does happen and, most often, without warning.

 

good to know..thanks (sunshell?) would that be the ring gear on the planetary set your talking about or the sungear itself?
