Running S10, won't start after intake gasket replacement
Exactly as the title says. I bought a 92 S10 as a work truck the other day, ran pretty darn well, but burnt oil bad and had a coolant leak.
Opon inspection of this otherwise clean truck, I noticed it was leaking oil from left valve cover gasket onto the exhaust manifold. The coolant leak was coming from the front port of the intake manifold, directly after the thermostat housing. The gasket was burnt to crap. I replaced both and assembled the motor back. i wasn't thinking when I did it, but I didn't mark the distributor at all, and didn't pay attention to how it was bolted on, NOTHING! Lol Long story short, I got it all back together, verified TDC #1, turned the rotor to point to the #1 piston and again... Reassembled. Now, all I get is backfiring from the TBI, I smell gas like crazy and even got a flame once!!! I can't figure it out to save my life. I don't see how it could be 180 off, as I've checked and triple checked. The truck ran great and always cranked right up before, now I can't get anything but air/fuel spraying out of the TBI. On a side note, I broke this plug off in the process of putting the head back on. Can ANYONE tell me what it is?! Another one of those things where i can't find a single lick of information about it. Sorry, can't see the pictures.
Still stuck with this one? |
