Hi all,
Took my 1994 GMC Jimmy 4x4 4.3L V6 CPI into a Brakes Plus to get a diagnostic test done.
They reported codes 69, 81, 82.
69: TCC Stuck "on"
81: 2-3 Shift Solenoid Circuit Fault
82: 1-2 Shift Solenoid Circuit Fault
Brakes Plus informed me that it means there are internal tranny issues. They even said when they pulled the tranny fluid dipstick they could see metal shavings... (bit skeptical about that one. I figured they'd show me something like that)
They said the transmission will probably end up going and recommend to replace it, quoting me at $1650 for a used tranny with 76k miles.
Now, I'm always a bit wary when taking my vehicles to shops like these. I'm always assuming they'll try and "up-sell" me.
The transmission is slipping but it doesn't "seem" too bad. The Jimmy still drives, and shifts...albeit just a bit rough.
Has anyone else had these codes before? Any suggestions or advice?
My plan right now is to just ride it out and keep driving it. Again, it doesn't "feel" too bad. We just bought this Jimmy as our family's winter car, and would hate to have to replace a transmission...
