Shifter Linkage problem
 

I just took my Transmission(4l60e) to rebuild it, rebuilt it and put it back in but now when my transmission is in park my column shifter is not and wont let me take my key out, also it wont go back all the way into 1st. It seems as though my transmission moved back or my shifter linkage(cable) grew longer(I believe neither). Ive tried adjusting it and it just wont move back far enough to be able to connect to the transmission. And its really stressing me out because I have everything back together and Im being held back by something stupid.
