Shifter probelm driving me nuts
 

Howdy

I have 1997 Gmc Jimmy 4.3 4x4 and it has a consle shifter. Shifter will not come out of park.We have done all kinds of checks on this even put in new shifter.Check wiring, Switches no luck. When you drive it shifts fine and runs good. Put it in park and it is stuck.

So here is my ? Can I put in a aftermarket shifter? Can I just put in a manual shifter and linkage to transmission? Like I said there been 3 different persons look at this and no results.
