Shifting problem PLEASE HELP
I have a 1994 Blazer S-10 4.3L 4X4 automatic. I have had it for quite some time and never had any problems with it until recently. I'll have it in overdrive. and it shifts normal, until its shifting from 2nd to 3rd. It doesnt shift and just revs really high. Nothing happens until I floor it, then it shifts..what could be the problem?

Have you ever changed out the trany filter?
How many miles are on it? also check your trany fluid lvl, top off if need be. |
RE: Shifting problem PLEASE HELP
Never changed the filter, 122k miles on it...i drove it for 2k miles so far. I recently toped off the tranny fluid last week.

RE: Shifting problem PLEASE HELP
try adjusting the tv cable yet noticing its present location in case of an malfunctioning adjuster.
the tv cable, if u dont know is attached to the throttle bracket along with the accerlerator cable and cruise control cable. its the one that runs towards the tranny. the adjuster should be a little sqaure block with a hard to press button on the rear. press this button with the help of a screwdriver while pushing the slider on the cable back into the bracket. then release the button. then go in the truck and fully press on the gas pedal and hold it there. u should here a few clicks as the cable adjusts itself. now u can fully open the throttle while u were originally under the hood but sometimes that will bring the cable out to far. if the problem worsens then adjust the cable manually click by click untill u find ur desired time of shifting while still being able to easily downshift. hence noticing the original position so u have a reference point to start at. it took me awhile to fine tune but now i have the same torque and acceleration after every shift. but be very cautious with this move because ur tranny reving as high as u say could be the first signs of a rebuild, especially if u have to floor the gas pedal |
RE: Shifting problem PLEASE HELP
ok..thank you, I will try that first thing tomorrow. If it don't work, I guess I have more serious issues. Extremely odd that it just all of a sudden happen. I would understand if it happend over time.

RE: Shifting problem PLEASE HELP
You dont have a tv cable. Your tranny is a 4L60E, electroncially shifted. GM started putting them into the S-series Blazers in '93.
Take it to a tranny shop and have them run some pressure tests. |
RE: Shifting problem PLEASE HELP
at 122k miles, I would be doing a filter and fluid change. I bet it has never been done.
I also would have a trany shop test it. Might have issues due to build up. |
RE: Shifting problem PLEASE HELP
I am going to change the fluid and filter today and I'll see what happens, hopefully it fixes it because I'm really tight on cash right now and don't have another car to drive.

RE: Shifting problem PLEASE HELP
Did you get the fluid changed?
|
RE: Shifting problem PLEASE HELP
no, I didn't..It got a lot worse, and I think it needs a rebuild.
