slow acceleration. gearing?

I just got a 91 S-10 Blazer 4x4 4.3 V6 the Blazer runs fine but is very slow to accelerate. Off road its a beast but in drive or overdrive it has NO power. The blazer has acted like this as long as I'm aware of. The vehicle has a new exhaust, fuel and air filters, and spark plugs. Would this be a gearing/transmission issue?

Also this Blazer has a automatic transmission.

what gears do you have in the rear now?

I don't know the ratios I have a owners manual unfortunatley its 2hrs away from me. The Blazer has 1, 2, 3, Drive and Overdrive.

both the tire size and gearing in the blazer are stock.

Like I said the Blazer has no power from a take off however after the RPM's get high enough it is much more responsive. On a take off the engine bogs down. However when off road when using lower gears the engine seems to not bog but break the tires loose.

My thoughts were the problem could be

gearing
governor
or the fuel injection

Well, these vehicles are not beasts off the line to begin with...lol

How old are the cap, rotor and wires? Coil? Have you tried Seafoam? Injector cleaner? MAF clean? It could be a number of things.

Also, look in your glovebox, should be a lable with a bunch of codes. One of them should be GU and a number. That will be you axle ratio. Post up the GU code and we'll know what gears you've got.

Go take a look in your glove box, You will either find a Gu4(3.08's) Gu5(3.42's) or Gu6 (3.73') on the code sheet, I had problem like this, I ended up sea foaming it and it gained some power back but never got down to the problem before it came the parts truck(Only because the core body was shot)

My 92 is doing the same thing, did you ever fix the problem?
