Stalls When Fuel is Low - 1996 4.3l
I have had my Blazer for a few months and have had a few issues where it stalled out during braking if the tank was below a quarter full. I just figured that the gauge was a little off and I was running it too low but yesterday I stalled out while sitting still at a light with a half tank of gas. I pushed it to a gas station and now that it is full everything works great. I have seen that this could be a weak fuel pump that needs some head pressure from a full tank in order to operate. I checked the fuel pressure today and I am getting about 40psi at the rail. Should I replace the fuel pump or look for another culprit?

Dont test the pressure when its running, test it KOEO (Key on engine off) Pressure should be about 60-62psi and not leak down below 55psi after 10 minutes.

My original test was compromised due to some failing gaskets in my gauge. When I got everything back together the pressure worked its way up to 60psi after a few cycles of the key and dropped to about 50psi after ten minutes. I am now even more perplexed as to the source of the problem but very glad I did not buy a fuel pump over the weekend.
