Starts, dies when gas is applied...
I don't know much about blazers, but i recently got a 1990 s10, or t10 wich ever is 4x4. 4.6L engine.
about a month ago the engine strting getting weaker and weaker. one day it wouldn't even move. it seems to move until it warms up. i have put a new: ditributor, new computer (twice), Map Sensor, spark plugs/wires, Checked the injectors, Checked the fuel pressure, New rotor cap, and i checked the throttle body. i have heard some comment about the injectors/harness maybe being grounded out. i have yet to check this, as i do not know how. please send me your thoughts, i really want to keep this truck but i have a deadline of 1.5 months or i have to get rid of it. -Nathan |

RE: Starts, dies when gas is applied...
S = 2dr
T = 4 dr Your engine is a 4.3L. What does the tranny fluid look/smell like? Where is it on the stick when it's warmed up? |
RE: Starts, dies when gas is applied...
Get your TPS (trottle postion sensor) and IAC (Idle air control) tested.
Is this a TPI or TBI fuel injected motor? |
yeah thanx guys, mistake on that, it is a 4.3L, my mistake. and it's a 2dr.
thanx il try al of these, keep sending me ideas plz. -nathan Hanr3 this engine has TBI injectors |
RE: Starts, dies when gas is applied...
Make sure both of them are firing.
It could be your main injector isn't working. There should be one for idleing, when you give her gas the main one takes over. Are you getting a Check Engine light, have you had the codes read? Codes would be hte best source of information. No codes generally means a fuel delivery issue. The puter assumes your getting proper fuel delivery. It doens't monitor fuel pressure or fuel delivery. |

Just to bring this back.
Disconnect the O2 sensor and remove it from the exhaust pipe. Then start the truck and see if it exhibits the same problems. If the problem is gone, then your catalytic converter is at fault. |
It's your Catylitic Converter I'm 100% sure!
Change the Cat. Conv. or drill a 1\2" hole before the Cat.Conv. and your Blazer will come back to life...
