i got in my 85 k5 ( 350 with a 700r4 ,4" suspension and 33's)last week and started to head to the gym, then out of the drive i noticed the blazer would not shift out of 1st gear. i went back home and found the TV cable broke off from the carb. linkage. i reconnected the cable and i am still stuck in 1st. i have also checked the governor. is there anything else i can try before having a rebuild. if i have to have a rebuild i am wanting to put a th400 tranny in it. will a th400 bolt up or will i have to make modifications? thank you

,did that on a 70 firebird and it was the vacuum line to the vacuum modulator on side of trans,if not that, check tranny fluid and see if it seems burnt or dark, there is a $6 botttle of solvent that u dump in there and run it thru all the gears and then change the fluid and pan gasket, worked in my 91 suburban for a long time

Check the TV cable to see if it's operating properly and adjusted correctly first.
If it came loose at the carb, it may be stretched or out of adjustment.
