It all goes to the fact that you will always get people reporting what goes wrong, but rarely get reports on those vehicles which never have a particular problem. There are millions of 4L60E transmissions in use and the majority don't have any issues.

The Beast lives!

Here's the damage report:
1 Drive Shell - 59.00
1 band - 28.25
11 clutches -44.00
1 pump - 130.00
1 filter - 10.90
11 qts fluid - 55.00
gaskets and seals - 42.00
Drain, Remove and replace included in labor.

Grand total on parts 369.15. Labor was a shocker 320.00! I couldn't believe it was under 500.00. total 730.50 including tax. Converter was said to be in good shape. Clutches all black and burned. Shell sheared just like any pic you see. There was one oddity. There was a hairline crack in the pump body. Hence the new pump.

Shifting more smoothly and a bit firmer. they didn't take cc so he let me leave, get the cash and go back to pay. Another shocker. warranty is 12 mos or 12,000 miles on parts. Pretty happy right now. that price sure beat the 2100.00 Sutliff Chevrolet quoted me as an average price for the repair. thanks to all the info I 've read here on the site I went into the repair knowing what to expect. thanks again! And I take back what I typed. I am glad I got her running the best in years and putting Bilsteins all around !
