temp gauge sending unit
 

is there supposed to be any resistance between the sending unit blue connector to the vcm connector pin? im getting 40-50 ohms. didnt voltage drop across the connector yet. this may explain why my temp gauge is reading a bit low and fluctuates a little. all air is bled, no leaks, thermostat is new, fan clutch not sticking. how does that sending unit work? it only has 1 prong. does the vcm connect the wire from the dash to the thermistor which acts like a ground? do both ends of the wires come apart from the connectors?

There should only be as much resistance in that wire as a wire of the same gauge and length. 40-50 ohms seems a bit much though.

The VCM measures the resistance to ground through the temperature sending unit. The ground is provided by the threads in the block. The gauge in the dash should be connected to the VCM and is provided with a signal for the gauge reading.

thought so. im going to check the rest of the wire and connector today. does the wire come apart from both ends of the connectors just by pulling on it?
