ok so im freeking out, i think my tranny is past going. i was driving home when i started smelling a horrable burnt/burning rubber smell. wasnt sure what is was and was 20 from home, got home, poped hood didnt smell bad at all. was only on the inside. wasnt sure. just moved truck so my mom could leave and i park on a slight incline going backwards, when i put it in park i slid like a foot, this is going 3 miles and hour dead stop, park, foot off brake, roll/slip. my drivway is icey but i have been parking there all winter no slip once. my park always holds on any kind of hill. please if anyone knows what could be going on i am freeking out as im 17 trying to save for collage and do what i can to my blazera new tranny is way out of question, o and i already had it rubuilt about 15xxx ago. trucdk is 2dr, 96, auto. 4.3 regular tranny

 

Check your fluid level first!!!!

 

did the wheels turn when it was sliding? park is a mechanical claw.

 

could also be a diff problem. I know the newer range rovers have a problem with sheering the splines on the driveshafts, and that renders park unable to prevent the vehicle from moving (as well as all the other problems of not having a driveshaft connected to the diffs...)

 

my tranny is all set pulled it checked it all is fine. i have sorced the burning rubber smell and it come from me heat

 

were you driving it really hard cause my blazer tranny leaks and every once anda while when i drive it hard it starts to smell bad. but ya check fluid and if it's low fill it, then let it run in park for a bit and see if it dripps out the bottom.
