motor swap
so looking into swapping my motor it seems it'd be cheaper and easier for me to get a 350 from a mid to late 90s full size half ton
my question is how much would i be up against to fit this into my 96 s series
i know it can be done and according to soem reasearch i have done its not overly difficult
apparantly the 5.7 have the same bolt up as a 4.3 for the tranny
any ideas comments suggestions?
let me know
thanks

See Jags that run (JTR) . They have a V8 Swap manual for the S10 that covers everything you need to know and where to get it. It is not a direct swap though. Most likely you will lose AC.

a new 4.3L vortec will run you just over 3500, a 350 is about 1800, so you are right on the price, i also know you'll have to put in electric cooling fans because of space constraints

that JTR site is cool i ordered the book yesterday thanks!!
it seems like its entirly possible with minimial modifications , but doing it on a 4x4 makes it more difficult then if i were to do it on a 2wd
im going to wait and see whats what when i get the manual on how to do it
if i dont do it this time its going to be something i work toward doing in the near future!

Be careful with that book. Its more of just a catalog for them to sale their products. Most of them being factory GM parts they put their mark up on. Its also full of incorrect info. I've done 4 v8 s-series now and the first 3 were without the book and the 4th I had the book and wish I had never wasted my money.
