tranny/idle problems
 

hey guys, new to the forum. I just recently got passed down a 2000 Blazer LT 4dr 4WD as my first vehicle from my parents. and its a great truck but the transmission is going from what my dad said and what I can tell. it whines when you drive/reverse and when you are just costing the RPM's seem to fluctuate.
any Ideas on what might be causing that/what I can or should do about it?

I love the truck and would like to have work done to it similar to what ive seen around the forums.

I would clean the MAF sensor as well as the IAC valve. The noise could be a bearing, how does the transmission fluid look and smell?

having not had the truck for more than a few days im not 100% sure where to look for the IAC valve( mind to inform me? haha) and I haven't looked at the tranny fluid. my dad ran some lucas transmission fluid in it that was supposed to stop hard shifts because he thought it might help. so its going to be different than normal. where do I check for that?

the rpms fluctuating is probably the engine side nothing to do with the tranny and as far as fluid solving hard shifts like lucas and all that that stuff eats the rubber seals in the tranny you will eventually be pulling the trans out for a rebuild....but Im with the other guy clean the mass air flow sensor...use specific cleaner by the way not brake or carb cleaner and check the throttle position sensor and the idle air control both are located on the throttle body..good luck these are fun little trucks with a bit of work
