i have i 97 blazer. about a year ago the tranny blew so i took it out and let it sit outside till 2 days ago. i had no intention on rebuilding the tranny but changed my mind, so i ripped it down today and i have some rust inside but i dont think its that bad, maybe 320 grit will take care of it but im not sure. has any one had this problem and what did you do. if i can figure out how to put pics on here of some of the parts i will. also im looking for a rebuild kit for a 4l60e, nothing to costly, cause i know im going to have to buy some new parts for this. i do go 4 wheeling and plowing, well i did!!

Depending on where the rust is, it should be fine. Most of the parts are either aluminum, or cheap replaceable parts(bushings/torington bearings). If it's in a steel piston bore or some gears, you might be in a bit of trouble. I had a bit in mine(water got in the fluid somehow from P.O.).
Otherwise, I use TransmissionPartsUSA. They have the lowest prices I've found so far. I rebuilt my 4L60E for $135 shipped to my door. Throwing in some upgrades and maybe a shift kit, you should be just under $250. Be sure to use a cooler.

Ebay also sells kits and some auto parts store can order them. I say a tranny cooler is almost manditory for any rebuilt tranny, not because it needs it persay, but because I only want to rebuild my tranny once
If your using ut to 4x4 hard there are some cheap upgrades that you can do that are a whole lot easier when it's out and apart (shifting servoes for example)
