I have a 1987 S10 Blazer 4X4 every couple of weeks trans fluid starts leaking from on top of my transfer case. The trans fluid dipstick reads low but when I take out the fill plug for the transfer case it is overfull and drains out. After lowering the level in the transfer case and refilling the trans, it doesn't leak again for a couple of weeks, Does anyone have an idea about this before I take it to a shop. Thanks, Paul

Sounds as though the input seal on the front of the transfer case has gone bad, allowing transmission fluid to enter and overfill the transfer case. Best to get it fixed ASAP before the fluid migrates its way into the vacuum system. You will have to remove the transfer case and replace the input seal. If you wait, you may end up with transmission fluid all the way up into the HVAC system! Not fun to clean up in the least!

what he said.
spend the extra couple bucks and get the double lipped seal, it will last longer and work better. put some tranny lube on it before you cinstall it. the shaft spining on a dry seal will fry it, and you will get to do it all over again. [8D]
the new seal is like $10
