Exclamation Transmission/Flashing Check Engine

Hi everyone, first time poster here, hoping to shed some light on a problem before taking it into the shop.

I have a 98 Chevy Blazer LS 2 Dr 4WD, 4.3L V6 233k. I purchased the vehicle used last year and haven't had many issues with it. Since I purchased the truck it has always had the check engine light on, which I later used an OBD that diagnosed it as a minor emission issue.

However, as of late the 4Wd High will not work, last week the 4WD Low would barely and very slowly shift, leaving me with the rumbling vibrating feeling everytime the truck was stopped at a light. Keeping the truck in 2Wd helped the case as the truck would shift fine.

However, I noticed late lastn ight that the truck was not shifting properly in 2WD, and on my way to work this morning I got the dreaded flashing engine light as I crept into work, slow acceleration. I swear I could smell some burnt fluid, but it might be imagination as I still think I can smell it in my office away from the truck.

When I first noticed the issue with 4WD, I did a thorough check of the fluid levels and they didn't seem burnt or low, and the truck was fine in 2WD.

HELP! I'm clueless at this point and its driving me crazy.

Thanks!
