Transmission problems please help

It shifts fine just driving short distance, occasionally rough shifts but overall good. Long distance on the other hand it shifts terribly for every gear, I mean like it will rev out then slam In gear. So my only guess is the transmission cooler is clogged? The fluid is still translucent and red, did a fluid and filter change when I got it, could add that I broke a cylinoid and had to replace it cause I was trying to not have to move the cross member, I don't know if that would affect anything . Any input at all would be helpful.

Have you checked the torque converter? Might be a possibility...

Anybody? Thought this forum was supposed to be helpful.

Thinking of how I could convert it to a manual has it been done? It's a 99 ls 2 Dr with 3 button 4x4.
And its just about at 200 k (199k) so I'm assuming it's worn anyhow. I don't know for sure though, any opinions? Rebuild/swap or is there something minor I can repair? I've done a filter and fluid change (5 quart not complete) with no luck, fluid is red as a cherry. On the interstate it will randomly down shifts Also.

This past summer I picked up a used Tranny from a junk yard for $300 bucks. The shop wanted $800 bucks to rebuild the 1 in it. I saved a ton of money :) It is doing fine to this day...

Okay thanks for your input, probably gonna buy a junk yard trans and rebuild it myself.

What was the condition of the old fluid when changed? What did the bottom of the pan look like? Service Engine Soon light on?

Red-blazer99 02-12-2019 06:52 AM

Fluid is fine and no clutches in the pan, has p1870 and a EVAP code that is intermeidiate.

Transman304 02-12-2019 08:57 AM

The P1870 is a component slip code which will set high line pressure and cause issues. More than likely the TCC circuit and failed converter. After driving at higher speeds and you stop and start again is the 1-2 shift very hard?
