Transmission stays in 3rd gear
 

Sometimes when i put my 97 blazer in drive it starts in 3rd gear and wont go out! I can put it in 1st myself and shift to drive but on the highway it stays in 3rd and never switchs out! But it only does this sometimes and sometimes it drives normal. Has anyone had this problem or know what it is?

Is the check engine light on? If so I would have it scanned and see if there are any DTC 's relating to the transmission. I also own a 1997 chevy blazer and had my transmission not shifting propery, it would only have 2nd and 3rd gear at time, it turned out it was the ingnition switch. The ingnition switch supplies power to the transmisson shift silonids....
