Transmission Tube
 

Does anyone know how to replace the transmission tube on a 1999 s10 Blazer. I think mine is leaking. Is there anything else in that area that could leaak? I already replaced the pan gasket

Yes, Im sorry. I am talking about the transmission dip stick tube. I dont see where else it could be coming from unless it is the little sensor (?) above it. Somethings leaking pretty good

Could very well be your lines going to the tranny cooler. I thought my dipstick tube was leaking only to find out it was both of these lines.

The tranny dipstick tube is a pain in the butt. However that is more than
likely your leak on that side of the tranny. you need to remove the top
tranny bellhousing bolt. It holds the dipstick tube in place. The easiest
way to remove that bolt is by removing the rear driveshaft (4-11mm bolts on
the unjoint strap), remove the tranny cross brace and slowly lower the back
of the tranny down until he distributor almost hits the firewall. Then you
need a wobble socket. Not a socket on a wobble extension, that is too long
and the socket wont clear the lip on the firewall. get the wobble socket and
3' of extensions. Shine a light up there so you can see the bolt, and coming
in from behind the tranny slide your extensions over the top of the tranny
and onto the bolt. Unbolt it. Jack the tranny back up and pull the dipstick
out, pull the dipstick tube out. Might want to have something to catch any
fluid that might come out. Put tranny fluid everywhere on the new gasket and
start it in the hole. slide the tube into place and slide the whole thing in
the tranny at once. Careful not to tear the new gasket. you can try putting
the gasket on the tube first, or in the hole first, however I never had any
luck either way. Its a tight fit. Watch the vacuum hoses and wires around
the tranny. Once eth tube is back in place lower the tranny again and put
that bolt back in place. Use a piece of wood between he tranny pan and jack
so the load is spread out to the sides of the tranny pan. If you jack it up
with the jack right on the pan you will push the pan into the filter/valve
body. Not good.

Its a pretty simple thing, however the hardest part is getting that top bolt
out. you can try coming at it from the engine compartment, however there
isn't much room and you need stubby wrenches, and serious finger strength to
get that bolt broke free.

I used these instructions to change the tranny tube sealand they worked well. I also removed the wheel well and it helped in removing the bolt from the tube bracket. It did not help in putting it back in. What did help is putting some electrical tape around the 2 extensions I had put together so they would not come apart. I also put electrical tape around the wobbley socket where it wobbles. This helped tremendously in getting the bolt back in and started. I didnt use much tape just a couple of wraps. This job took me around 2 days, some of it was getting the right tools from my brother and Napa. I could probally do it in a day. I still have a leak.................its coming from the lower cooler line. Does anybody have instructions on doing this on a 1999 Chevy Blazer S10? I might call around and see how much it would cost a shop to do it, the fittings going into thae trany are not the normal kind. They have a plastic disc around the out the line. I tried to tighten the bolt but it did not budge, not sure what to do next, but I need to do something its a pretty good leak and Im getting tired of putting tranny fluid in.

the plastic disc slide forward on the line and there is a little clip that releases the line.....then all you need is the correct size socket to remove the fitting..... http://www.makcotransmissionparts.co...01/D74996B.jpg
