Trouble shifting out of first & random start problem
Hey all,
I have a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer V6 with 77k miles on it. I am just about to throw in the towel on it with all my frustrations. Here are my problems (not sure if they are related)
When I accelerate the automatic transmission will not shift out of first gear until I release the accelerator. It also almost redlines when I have to get on the gas (i.e. passing someone). But for normal driving, after I get it into second it is fine. I have been thinking of doing a transmission flush but I know this is a controversial point among people....I have replaced the TPS thinking maybe that was it, but no dice...
The other intermittent problem I have is that when I start the truck it will turn over, get to 600-700 RPM or so, and the just die. It will do this every time you try to start. Putting the accelerator will hold it at idle though. If I wait a couple minutes with the truck turned off (Usually after 3-4 trys to start) it will start fine. I have replaced the fuel pump and the mechanic supposedly replaced the fuel filter at the same time. That was maybe 6-8k miles ago...
Any ideas guys? Thanks in advance.
Travis

So I have been doing some more digging and thinking that it might be either the 1-2 solenoid or maybe the 2-4 servo band...Does this sound right for my problem?
Thanks,
Travis

i have the same transmission problem. its the gears in the transmission being worn away. do a transmission flush, replace the filter and fluid, and add lucas transmission additive to it. it's like a transmission band-aid.
99blzr, your starting problem is the park/neutral switch on the transmission. take it to a mechanic and have it fixed and you'll have no problem
