try diff route..
ok, so i took off from a traffic light the other day and 20 feet into my acceleration the whole forward momentum ceased completely.. its like it just let go.. no indication of this coming. no sounds, smells or noises of anykind..
i have no reverse no 1st thru 3 gears either. hell dont even know if i have park or not... checked my fluid and its way way way up the stick.. any ideas??? thanks in advance

So your problem is in the transmission? Are you saying the fluid it showing much higher than the full line on the dipstick? If so, that could be the first thing to address. If you over-fill the transmission fluid it will definitely cause issues and could be preventing shifting.
If you don't want to drop the transmission pan but need to remove excess fluid you can build a fluid pump using very simple tools to vacuum out excess fluid via the dipstick tube. I did this once when I had accidentally over-filled the transmission. All you need is a couple feet of 1/4" flexible tubing, a non-collapsible sealable container (glass or metal) and some nipples for the tubing. I did it with a wide mouth mason jar, where I put nipples through the jar lid spaced 2" apart, and sealed them. Then I put one end of the tubing down the dipstick tube, and connected the other end to the jar. Then with a second length of tubing I connected the second nipple from the jar to the vehicles vacuum system. I just disconnected the line from the reservoir and connected it to my jar. The vehicle's vacuum will draw fluid out of the transmission and into your jar. Just be careful to not over-fill the jar and risk drawing fluid into the vacuum system. It's very easy to do, and it works very well.

good evening El_Beautor,
thanks for taking the time to answer me... yes my fluid is showing well above the full line on the dipstick.. i replaced the motor with a reman motor 12 k miles ago. i believe if the transmission were overfilled like its showing would it not shows signs or cause problems before now?
it would have to force its way out somehow wouldnt it??

First off, I am not really experienced with transmissions, however I have learned from other very knowledgeable people here that it can actually be worse to overfill a transmission than to have it low on fluid. The excess fluid will build pressure and prevent normal function. The transmission doesn't really have an overflow route, so there's no where for the excess fluid to go. You need to remove the excess fluid first, and then proceed with troubleshooting any remaining problems.
I'm assuming its a 4l60E or 4l60 they are fairly reliable. Check your fluid and make sure that it doesn't have any metal shavings floating in it or a glittery look to it or something else in it and check to see if its burnt as well because it is possible for trans fluid to go bad if not routinely checked. the worst thing that could happen is that you have to take it to a transmission shop to have it redone or you install another used or new one.
