Default trying to fix blazer

96 blazer with the 6 cyl. got stuck on ice at bottom of hill, really fired down on it in 4wd to get out. started knocking really badly has no power, accelerates very slowly. looking around the forum I see that it could be a thrown rod, would getting after it in 4wd cause this? and would it be worth it to tear apart and fix? thanks for any replies and help

I wouldnt think having it in 4wd had anything to do with it, Sounds like it just threw a rod at high rpm. Assuming it started while you were punching on it. Its always woth the fix if you like the vehicle.
