ttemperature gauge

hi I recently bought a 2002 blazer 4x4 with 4.3l, seems to run good etc. I noticed today that when it's running and idling or underload my temperature gauge says I'm sitting just under the middle mark (210) I believe, but when I shut the vehicle off then turned it back on, the gauge went up to almost 3/4 and after running a couple minutes dropped back to normal and doesnt move. what would be the first thing I should look into, thanks

Sounds like normal operation. Remember the fan and water pump shut off with the truck, so temperature is free to rise. Doesn't cool again until started, but the sensor already crept up.

Good luck,

dviles

I assumed that was the case but not to familiar with this vehicle yet, so just making sure stuff is normal, thanks for the reply
