Very loud & annoying belt squeal. Also, antenna problem. VIDEO INCLUDED!
Hey everyone.
I made a video about my recent car troubles. It's a little lengthy and unedited, so skim through it if you watch. Basically I have a really bad belt squeal. I'm thinking a new belt will do (gatorback). Also, my car stereo was stolen and the %(&%^# thief used wire-cutters on the inside of the car on the antenna. Now I need to splice the antenna in with another antenna wire. I would be comfortable doing that if it was just regular copper wire or even coax, but the antenna wire has a single copper wire in the middle, surrounded by white insulation, which is surrounded by more copper wire. Don't know how I'd splice that. Anyway, here's the video. youtube vid let me know what you think! |
your tensioner looks maxed out, may have put extra stress on the pulley. just a guess.
you can buy spray that rejuvinates rubber and makes it sticky, its called belt dressing i think, if its just the belt it might fix it. |
Try a gatorback. At least it $30 well spent. As for the antenna, Giver a go. Just peel back the first copper layer and insulation. fix the inner copper wire and then place insulation back then do the same to the outer copper wire.
At the end of the vid. It sounds like the grinding of the 1. ac compressor or 2. the idler pulley. |
I went thru the exact same as you did, replaced the idler and tensioner changed the alternator and all, it was the belt I put on a new belt and been good ever since. Hope this helps
