water pump help!!!

is it absolutely necessary to remove the fan clutch to change the water pump i rented the tool from auto zone and i dont know if its too tight or seized maybe but all i managed to do was round off the bolts and the tool i did notice the piece that fits on the clutch itself is a little too big but that is the only one they had to fit and thats the one it requires ive changed these on blazers before but this one is a bravada which i think is the same but i cannot get the fan clutch off any advice please

i know how to change the water pump i just need to know if its possible to change without removing the fan clutch because this one will not budge

yes but once off the block it will be nearly impossible to hold even with a vice

If you don't get it apart you will need another clutch , pulley and fan blade

Not sure if that is a regular or left hand thread, check new pump to confirm
Is it possible your trying to tighten instead of loosen ?

The autozone tool will not work for our trucks. As mentioned, do not remove the pump with the clutch attached. It will only be more of a PITA.

I made my own tool out of a piece of steel that bolts onto the pulley/pump to hold it when loosening the clutch (I've always just used a big crescent wrench to do so). They're standard threads BTW, so righty tighty lefty loosy applies lol.

It's reverse threaded

Yes big screwdriver or prybar, get someone to hold that, then whack the cresent wrench with a BFH.( Big f Hammer) counter clockwise
