what years engine will interchange with a 1999

Default what years engine will interchange with a 1999
i got a 99 4x4 and was needing to know what years will interchange?i was told it has to be 96-2000 is that correct or will a 2001 or 02 engine work also

can anyone verify that?i need to know so i can get a new engine

I know my axel is from a 2002 blazer. But I cant say for sure. My Haynes book saids 96 - 2001. MOst scrap yards should be able to tell u. Or just call GM

i found a 2001 engine i was just needing to know if it will work in my 99 or if anyone knew of any diffrences
