wont engage in drive and 3

Default wont engage in drive and 3
my 2005 4x4 wont engage in drive and 3 but works fine in 1, 2, reverse and park, could it be just the solenoid or something much worse? thanks for your help it's drive me crazy looking it up

i can get it to work in 3 if im driving and get the rpm's and speed up

Judging from other posts it could be a vehicle speed sensor if you're lucky.

i hope so, had to buy a new rear end because it put a spider gear out the diff cap, so kinda don't what to buy a new transmission if i don't need to
