Default Wrong Oil Filter??

Hello everyone, I was just wondering if its a big deal if I put a Fram Extended Guard Oil filter designed for a 2wd on my 2001 4wd blazer. Also if I need to change it, can I change the filter w/o draining all my new oil. Thanks for the help

It wont drain all the oil by pulling off that filter but you wiill lose some. Im not familiar with the 2wd filter other than the fact its not remotely located. If it isnt leaking is approximatley the same size it should work. You may have slightly different pressures depending on whether it has more or less filter media. I would stay away from frams though especially at the price difference between them and a delco filter. You can search around on here or just in google to find out why.

Thanks portcqb!

The only difference I noticed was that the 2wd filter was not as long as the 4wd one. It seems that my pressures are a little higher and fluctuate more when I accelerate, etc. but not too much. Pressure is a little above 40. If I removed the filter would I need to be pretty fast at replacing or would I just loose the oil in the filter and the line to the filter???

I think you only lose the oil in the filter and the lines solike a quart. All the oil in the pan and the blockshould stay unless you are parked on a steep downgrade. Ifyou mean 40 warmthat would be fine for the entire rpm range if I remember the GM minimums for this engine.

remove the oil filter and let all the oil that comes out drain out, replace the filter and once that is dont you are going to add 1 quart of oil...
