350 TBI Odd Ticking Sound
I've got an '87 K5 which I recently had to replace the intake manifold gasket on. Since I put it back together, its developed an odd ticking sound that seems to be coming from the distributor area. I've checked the distributor, the PCV Valve, lifters, EGR, everything I could think of that would cause it. I still have absolutely no idea where it is coming from. I recorded a video of the sound, hoping somebody here can identify it.
350 TBI Ticking Sound - YouTube Any guesses? If it helps, at the same time as replacing the gaskets, I did plugs and wires too. The plugs have been gapped to .035. Ben |
I watched the video, do you think you could get a better recording of the sound, maybe from into the engine bay.

That is definitely the best place to record the sound. Its the loudest/clearest right there.
After a bit of looking online and using a bar to listen to things, I'm pretty sure its the fuel injector(s) that are making the sound. |
that does not sound like a ticking to me, that sounds like an odd toned hum LOL! I am not sure what it is though. I have never heard that noise before, besides a bad blower motor.

I finally got around to replacing the fuel injectors, and the sound remains. I'm completely stumped now. Anybody have any ideas?
