4 wheel drive

ok second question of the night. I hate to show my ignorance but, I am wanting to learn more and more. I love these full size blazers.

When i engage the 4 wheel drive it seems o work fine, but when i go back to 2wd i get a rattling noise form the transfer case. At least i think its from there. Can any one ive me just general information on how to operate it so i don't mess anything up anymore than i might have already? I was reading some where that i need to back up 10 feet to do something to release i bu no idea what.

The Rattling will stop eventually after putting it back in 4wd and 2wd several times, sometimes its a day later before it finally stops.

The truck is an 89 Chevy 350 TBI full size blazer.

Thanks again for all the help you guys have giving though out the year.

Do you have manual or automatic hubs on the front axle? If they are the automatics, the hubs are likely not unlocking properly which could cause the noise as it would result in the front driveshaft being 'powered' opposite what it normally is.

You can swap the somewhat problematic automatic hubs with manual hubs relatively easily.
