well im looking for a dune truck full size. i think he wants a little to much but maybe i can talk him down. it does have a few issues so that helps with the price. what do you guys think. what am i gonna want to check for when i look at it and what typically goes bad on these.

That does sound steep. It would depend on the condition of the truck. If it is pristine, then it may be worth it. But given the mechanical/electrical problems...

thats what i thought. in the pictures the body looks good, but i'd have to see it in person to validate it. its been up since the 6th so maybe he's getting axious and more willing to deal. what year is yours?

does anyone know much about the 350 turbo trannys and how well they hold up? this has got one.

swartlkk 01-20-2010 08:15 PM

Only real down side of the TH350 is that it isn't an over drive transmission. They can be made to be quite reliable. I burnt one up in my Chevelle, but the one in my K5 shifts crisply and consistently.

82 k5 help!!!!!

im looking at this http://kalamazoo.craigslist.org/cto/1540914172.html

it says it needs new speedometer cables, upper and lower, how bad are they to change, the gas gauge isn't working, do these have sending units much like the 2nd gens because those are common failure on the 2nd gens and wondering if it would be similar to this. he also says it needs a new wheel bearing. i know they're not to bad to change on the 2nd gens. how bad/easy(i can hope :) are they to replace. as you can probably tell im more familiar with the 2nd gens. figured i'd ask you guys cause i dont own one yet.....what kind of can of worms is this gonna be:icon_shrug:

alright it will probably be just a sand/mud truck. might take it on the road to get to the shop and show off to the friends:icon_bike:. it has mickey thompsons on it so i might have to swap them off its gonna be on the road to much. what would you think this would get for gas milage?

*Moving to Full Size Tech*

Speedo cables and sending unit are not all that bad. The wheel bearings are going to be a bit more involved on a SFA truck than an IFS truck and will require some specialized tools to remove the spindle nut. Give google a spin searching for Dana 44 wheel bearing replacement or terms to that effect.
