84 k5 cranks but wont start

So i recently bought a k5 with a 350 and an edelbrock carb. I rebuilt the carb and slapped the carb back on to give it a go and it won't start up. It cranks but won't start. If I put gas in the carb and turn the key it starts right up but won't stay running. It'll run for a second or two. I took off the fuel line to the carb and stuck it in a can and turned the key for about 5 seconds and then went to the can to see if I'm getting gas and the can was a little over half full. Am I getting enough gas? What could be the problem?

sounds like maybe a carb rebuild problem. If it ran before the rebuild but not after. I would go through the rebuild again. You may have missed something

It didn't run before i rebuilt it. I'm gonna take the op off the carb and recheck my floats. If that's not it what is it? Fuel pressure? Fuel pump?

I'm thinking fuel pump. Is it electronic? Not really familiar with 84 s. Could be wiring if it is. Just some things to check

Check the fuel filter at the fuel inlet on the carb - some are a metal filter and they plug easy - some are a paper cartridge filter and the paper ones usually have a one way check valve inserted in them, make sure you have the filter facing the right way - Hate to admit it but over the years Yup been there done that on both instances
