87 Chevy K5 Blazer shutting down while driving/issues with turn over
need help please. after changing out fuel filter, pump, and strainer as well as ignition coil, still having issues keeping blazer running - it turns over better now (without killing battery) that the ignition coil has been changed but will not run more than a few minutes then shuts down by itself (that was the original problem - while driving, truck shut down like there was no gas in it). need troubleshooting suggestions if anyone has any (the cheaper the better as I am moving this month and funds are tight). the engine is a 350 and only has 25k miles on it (at least that was what we were told when we bought used). thanks in advance.

Carb or throttle body injected? If carb'd, what is the make/model of the carb on it?

What is your fuel pressure? It needs to be 9-10psi for proper operation.
Note: a special in line adapter will be required to test it. You can get this adapter with most higher cost fuel pressure testers or just buy the fitting and a manual gauge and leave it right on your truck. Have you tested anything in the ignition system. It is possible that the coil is getting weak or the ICM is failing due to heat, shutting the truck off. |

Have you tried resetting the base timing? How is the compression?
I would definitely suggest you test the fuel pressure. |

When you are having trouble with it, do you get good spark?

But that is not what I asked.
Lets say that the coil is malfunctioning when it gets hot. Or the ESC module. Either could operate normally when cooled down and malfunction to the point of stalling when they get hot. |
