'90 hub issue

A friend of mine has a 1990 k5 with the auto-locking hubs; i.e. put it in 4x4 in the cab and magic does the locking of the front axle. The problem she is having is that a spring has broken in one of the hub assemblies resulting in undriveability in 2wd. So the auto-lock hubs have been removed and I've set about attempting to find replacements; however, all I can find are the manual locking hubs and several shops have told me they can't get a new auto-lock or a replacement spring.

So...does anybody make these anymore or is manual the only option?

The auto hubs are highly known for their reluctance to engage when you need them most. You may be able to find them through the dealer, but they will be $$$. Many people throw their auto hubs in the trash and upgrade to the manuals.

Yea I had some here and thought about selling them but figured people would get mad cause they never seem to work so they are in the dump. The manuals are so much more reliable. Been using them for 10 years only time they failed me was one had water in it and was frozen
