Default 91 k5 blazer with a mean stutter (sometimes)

Hey yall. I have a 91 k5 that has a stutter in the engine when I start it. However when i put it in gear, the stutter goes away for a day or two. Also it smells as if it is running rich. Any ideas on wat this may be?

What is this "stutter" feel/sound like? Is the engine "bucking", shaking? When was the last time the Blazer had a tune-up? If the spark plugs look old/rusty, go ahead and replace them. Also, anytime one of these old style TBI engines seems to be running rich, the culprit is the coolant temperature sensor on the top of the intake manifold, next to the upper radiator hose.

ALSO, please post mechanical related problems in the K5 Tech section of the forum. This is not the correct place to discuss these types of issues.

ok, sorry, Im new to this page and trying to figure it out. Ill post it where it should go. My blazer was just tuned up 2 months ago and I checked the coolant temp sensor and that is fine too. Its more of a bucking and always goes away after i put it in gear. Also it seems to want to stall sometimes when idleing.

How did you check the coolant temp sensor and verify that it is good?

I was told to pull it out, jump it with a wire and start the truck. When I started it, it just died. Also I put in a gas treatment and she seems to be back to her old self.
