94 K5 Blazer Passenger seat belt stuck

My seat belt on the passenger side retracted but now the bottom part won't allow it to come back out to put the belt on (the top part works but not enough to get the belt to the buckle) I have a '94 K5 Blazer and I've searched repair manuals but most of the ones I've looked in don't have seat belt diagrams, if anyone can help me with a diagram or tell me how to take the belt off/a part I would be very thankful, worst case I may have to go buy a new belt since the truck isn't safe to have a passenger in at the moment... Any advice or help would be very appreciated, I tried checking the forum but couldn't find anything regarding this so I'm sorry if I missed it.

It's possible it's caught up in the mechanism on the bottom, I've had that happen before. On the lower seatbelt section there's a plastic cover and in the back there's an access door. Pop the door off and you'll see a bolt with an, if I recall correctly, a T45 or T50 torx head. Remove that bolt and the assembly comes off.

You MIGHT have to put some heat on the bottom of the bolt (look under the truck and you'll see it - may have to remove mud, snow, undercoating, etc) They have loctite from the factory and can be tough but with heat everything comes off!!

If it's not caught up and it doesn't retract once out go to a junkyard and get a new one... it's already out and that's the hardest part!

Hope that helped!

Sounds like the typical hyper-active tensioner. Mine catch in my '74 if I extend the belt too quickly. It is a pain. But I have never had mine stick at the bottom.
