I have a 1990 Jimmy with 5.7L, 145,00 miles and 31 gallon tank. After I fill it up and drive a little bit and stop i get a strong gas smeel at the rear of the jimmy. I let it sit for a week becuase i was out of town drove it today and it still had the smell. I see on the take were it looks like it is wet on the side of the tank, not sure if the tanks needs replaced or if the gasket needs replaced. i was wondering what other people might think it might be. I plan on replacing the tank, gasket and the fuel pump, strainer and the rest of the items while i was in there.

Where is a good place to buy a tank and the pump, filter and strainer. I already checked the junk yard.

 

I just got done replacing the fuel lines at the tank because of same "wetness" solved my problems

 

Did you have to drop the tank? Did you see the wetness on the side of the tank.

I am thinking about replacing the pump, sender float to jsut so I know it is done.

 

I accually had wetness coming down the front of the tank puddling on a mat I placed under the truck
