Hot starter problems m1009
Ive got some major problems with the starter / starter solenoid getting to hot.
Usually have to sit in the truck and wait for 30mins for it to cool down after a drive. The starter is a 24V Delco starter and im trying to figure out how to remove some of the hot-contributing stuff.. On my current setup the starter always have 24V present on the battery connector... I wonder if this is contributing to the heat? Should i maybe only give the starter power when im starting the truck? All help is massivley appreceated.. |
Have you checked to make sure that the starter is disengaging properly?

I absolutley dont think that its not disengaging..... Its just sometimes when hot it wont do anything. Leaving the truck for 15-30 mins then trying again always works.. |
today the car started fine 5-6 times while driving around to diffrent stores, then later after beeing still for 40mins when i was going home from the garage the truck started fine, i turned it off, then i tried to start it again, and it was dead.
Its getting frustrating... maybe its time for a new starter ? |
I think if it's not disengaging you should be able to hear it trying to crank.
I think this is probably caused by a short in your ignition tumbler or ignition switch |

I think this is probably caused by a short in your ignition tumbler or ignition switch solenoid just wont close the bridge when its too hot. |
