How do I fix this?

I was wondering why my back window would not clear up when I turn on the rear defrost. After looking around at fuses I opened the rear hatch and saw this.

This wire looks like it ran from the hatch to the window. Is there any way I can fix this. I'm gonna need my defrost this winter.

That actually looks like it goes to the support strut.

yeah pretty sure thats how those worked. probably need a new window shock thingy
