Ignition Noises
hello!
blazer k5 90 - when i start my truck i can hear a noise that sounds like an electric shocker pops, and if I'm not mistaken the ignition time is a bit longer than usual. any thoughts? |
Have you looked for spark escaping from the wires and/or distributor cap? Doing so at night will likely lead you to the problem.
|
i will make a night check. another thing i forgot to mention is that i connected a sort of a safety switch to the starter relay. the connections are good though.
is it possible that there's a link between this modification to the noise I'm hearing? |
Try removing your switch and see if the problem persists. Pretty easy to rule out.
|
maybe i didn't clarify. i know how to rule out the switch. my question was if I'm making any trouble to the relay by adding up a switch or there shouldn't be any problem?
|
As with anything, if done improperly or inferior parts were used, the end result will not be as intended. Switching the starter solenoid shouldn't be a problem if done correctly and with parts that can stand up to the load of the solenoid. You really should test the load that the solenoid draws and ensure that your switch is capable of withstanding that load repeatedly.
|
ok guys, it turned out to be a loose connection of the safety switch i guess. i reconnected the wires properly and the noises stoped.
thanks for the replays and the help, Yarin. |
