K5 frame swap

Hello everyone. I'm new here to this forum and I'm looking for some information on my 1994 chevy fullsize k5 blazer. Unfortunately thanks to the central NY salt covered winter roads, the frame has gotten week in places and completely rotted away at the passenger side rear shackle. Purchasing this truck from my dad I would love to put this truck back in use for myself since it has been in my family for a long time. Anyway, my question is can I swap this body onto a 92-98 chevy 1500 truck frame? If so would it have to be a single cab, extended cab, short box, ect. Fullsize blazers and 2 door tahoes are not to common around me so I would like to find something that would be able to work.

Thanks in advance!
Dyllan.

Welcome to the forum!

I won't tell you for certain that the truck frame will not fit. I will tell you the wheelbase of the 94 full size is 111.5 inches and the wheelbase sizes for the 1500 range from 117.5 to 155.5 inches. So, I would suppose it will not fit. I think you are looking at building some sort of a jig to keep your frame square and cutting out the bad and welding in replacement sections. I don't see why you couldn't use a 1500 frame as donor though...

Thanks for the info!

I go to school for welding so I know that I could make a frame for the truck but I'm worried after all that work it will not pass inspection in new York because I am not a licensed welder. However I did find another blazer for cheap with a good frame, but it's a 89. I know they have solid axle front suspension instead of IFS like my blazer and I wouldn't mind the solid axle. However again come the question on will the body fit with minimal work and actually look good?

Thanks again

Dyllan

With the redesign of the full size Blazers in 1992 - again, I'm not going to tell you it won't work, but again I am doubtful....
