Making Old Shift Linkage Work with New 4l60E

Hi,

I got an 88 K5 Blazer with a column shiftier (automatic), and I'm trying to keep the original 700r4 linkage and make it work with the the 4l60E that I swapped with the 5.3 motor. The transmission sizes match (700r4 & 4l60e), and from what I know, the shifting points should be the same, but when I hooked the old linkage up, it worked, but the gears seemed delayed in comparison to the shiftier display. For example, I have park, then there is a gear in between park and reverse, then a gear in between reverse and overdrive. I cannot shift into drive, second, or first at all. Seems like all the gears are there, but not matching the shiftier.

I hear people have made the old linkage work with little modifications, but I'm thinking that I might need a shiftier kit. Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions? Transmissions are not my specialty at all.

Thanks!

my s10 blazer has a 4l60, and i got rid of the column shifter due to it binding in certain offroad situations. if you want to go the cheap route, get a floor shifter out of a early 90s or late 80s camaro, everything bolted right up and worked great. only thing thats going to suck is you will still have the column shifter up front, can get a column out of a manual transmission truck but they are kinda rarer to find.

also any aftermarket floor shifter should work but they cost a few hundred
