I just (10-23-08)traded my Jeep for a 91 full size Blazer. I will be doing lots of work to get her wearI want her.I'm gonna have lots of questions and hope to get some good answers from people who have been there done that.

My first question is an easy one. The Blazer has a 5 or 6 inch body lift. The brake cable no longer fits and Ihave not been able tofind an adaptor or longer cable? Any suggestions?

So your parking brakes are always on? What brand body lift does your truck have installed?

 

No the breaks are not on, the cable has to pull to be on. I dont know what kind of lift it was on the blazer when i got it.

I would think a lift kit would come with an adaptor or possibly use a cable for a suburban!

 

So what is the problem? Is the cable disconnected now? If that is the case, then you may be able to find a cable from a pickup from the same year range (mid-80s to 91). You may have to look at the cable lengths for short box regular cab, short box extended cab and long box regular cab to see which one fits.

Depending on the parts store, you may be able to order the appropriate cables just to measure them. You should be able to measure the cables you have on your truck now and figure out how much longer you will need.

Actually... I just looked them up on RockAuto.com. For your truck, the stock front cable is 65.5" long. Left cable, 54" long. Right cable, 76.5". If you look at the fullsize trucks, you should be able to find a front cable that is a little longer to accomodate your lift.
