Removing '82 K5 T-Case
Hey guys, I need to take the T-Case out of my '82 K5. Its a 350/TH350 with an NP208 case. I was wondering if anyone could list the steps to take it out? and also, What do I do after I get it out to identify if I can bolt up a NP205 without any modifications(if thats possible)? Thanks.

JUst disconnect the driveshafts. Dissconnect the shifter linkage on pass side. Should be a type of cotter pin in there. Disconnect the vent line if you have one and electrical connection. Drain fluid. Unbolt the transfercase from trans and lower down with a jack. Pretty straight forward

Yea that is, Thanks alot. When I un-bolt the cross-member holding the case up, do I have to support the tranny? or will it be fine?
|
You will need to support the transmission if you take out the crossmember.
|
Ok cool. Thanks guys, that is all. I will get on that in the next few days or so. I don't know how to delete threads but if someone does, they can delete this one if they want . Thanks again.

You dont have to remove the crossmember. The crossmember supports the trans and adapter. The Tcase bolts to the adapter. You just have to move the case back like a 1/2 inch backwards to clear the crossmember. I always leave it but if your doing this with crappy jacks then might as well take it out to be paranoid

Oh yea thats true. Haven't been under there in awhile but I remember now changing the spacers under the adapter which was connected to the cross member. Thanks!.

got it out in about 3 hours...

the 205 is going to have an adaptor between where it bolts,
