small block to big block

Well i was at my dads shop helping him and we got talking and my dad has a old fuel injected 454 out of an old 2wd suburban that he was going to stick in a mud bogger of his but now he isnt too sure. Well we were talking and i may just end up with the motor what mods will i have to do to make it work? What am i looking at parts wise so i now what im getting into when if i do decide to put it in? I plan on using the same 700r that my blazer has now... I know it is very risky to do but i cant find a th350/400 in any junkyards near me and when i do they are worse off then the 700r it already has... So what am i looking at buying and how will the 700r4 fair untill i can find a stronger tranny? Also i am putting this in a full size 1988 blazer 4x4.

doesnt anyone get what im asking? the 454 is also carb not fuel injection. i am just asking what kinda work am i looking at when swapping a carbed 454 into my blazer it has a 350 tbi sbc v8 right now.

Wow... You are all over the place with this truck of yours...

There is no telling how long the 700R4 will last as there is no telling how bad off it is right now.

As far as putting a carb'd 454 into your truck, there again, it will depend on what condition the engine is in. If you have never heard it run and have never done any leak down or compression checks on... You really do not know how healthy that is either.

Putting that aside, you would typically want to make sure that your fuel system can support the requirements of the new motor as well as your cooling system. That really is a basic understanding.

And BTW, please try to have just a bit of patience when posting. No one here is on retainer to answer your questions. Couple that up with you posting at close to 11PM EST, then a mere 14 hours later, on Mother's Day of all days, to make a "doesnt anyone get what im asking?" statement... Come on.

anyways sorry i just put that cuz i know i am unclear with my questions somtimes and not argueing but im not really all over the place i have a solid idea so far but like i said before my plans will change as parts become available i mean its basicly going to be a blazer with 6" of lift 35" tires 454ci motor stock trans t-case and im puting gears in the axles along with lockers and cut out flares on it to take care of rust, its pretty basic really

Where are you? I know a guy parting out a truck that has a fairly recently rebuilt TH350.
Near D.C. Unfortunately the transfer case is an NP203.

Here is a list of things you will need off the top of my head...

A gas tank from an 86 or older K5.
Headers for a big block, also you will need exhaust work done.
A flex plate if the 454 doesn't have one, the 350 fp is not the same.
A radiator capable of cooling the big block.

Hopefully the "new" engine has all the accessories and brackets.
